I, Me Aur Main Movie Review
Ratings:2/5 I Me Aur Main Review By: Rajeev Masand Site: CNN IBN (IBNLive)There’s an interesting premise at the heart of debutant director Kapil Sharma’s I, Me Aur Main, which tells the coming of age story of a 35-year-old. But despite giving us a believable protagonist, Sharma and writer Devika Bhagat fast run out of interesting ideas to keep us hooked. The film, ultimately, rushes towards its hasty, unpredictable resolution that feels unconventional merely for the sake of it. I’m going with two out of five for I, Me Aur Main. At less than two hours, it’s hardly a slog. But you can’t help feeling like real potential was squandered.Visit Site for more

I, ME AUR MAIN is *not* remotely similar to those two films in terms of plotline, it does talk of relationships [live-in, child without wedlock et al], but at the same time, it also takes the easy route of drifting into the stereotypical zone, at times. Had Kapil grabbed the opportunity of going unconventional out-and-out, I, ME AUR MAIN would've been in a different space altogether. I, ME AUR MAIN has several worthy of note sequences. Nonetheless, there're tracks that fizzle faster than expected. On the whole, I, ME AUR MAIN is a decent watch. More for the urban youth!Visit Site for more

On the plus side, I, Me Aur Main (IMAM) has the glossy good looks of a TV ad - on the downside, it stays there. IMAM has an interesting plot and a progressive message. But IMAM has issues too - the acting is superficial. There's lots of flashing dimples and pouting lips but not one performance that's convincingly power-packed. Storyline turns are too fast and fluffy. This niche movie doesn't nail it but it's a cute watch, floating by humming - "Take it easy, thora moody, thora cheesy."Visit Site for more

First-time director Kapil Sharma’s I Me Aur Main depicts everything that’s wrong with Indian patriarchal society. It also represents, on some levels, everything that’s wrong with most stories in Hindi films. The plot, though, leaves a lot to be desired. While the first half of the film establishes the premise effectively and at a brisk pace, the second half meanders. The story loses its sense of direction – surely not all women are naive in their dealings with a man-child – and rushes to the end because all stories must have a crowd-pleasing ending in the appropriated run-time. I Me Aur Main falters with its plot, does a mild disservice to the ladies and is unreasonably forgiving of its protagonist. If you can get past that, it’s a film you wouldn’t mind watching once.Visit Site for more

The idea that a mommy's boy can, notionally, grow up is a deeply attractive one. This could have been a slap-up rom com. But the trouble with this good-looking movie is that it is patchily written and performed, and often feels contrived. Of course over-indulgent mothers can turn their little boys into entitled monsters, but all it takes for 'maa' Wahab to realize it is one impassioned speech by 'behen' Mathur?Visit Site for more

A rom-com about a self-obsessed music producer who loves himself too much to notice that life might be passing him by is anything but oven-fresh. But in the larger context of popular Hindi cinema, a love story that does not culminate in a big fat Indian wedding is certainly a novelty. I, Me Aur Main is a rather listless drama about grown-ups who still have much growing up to do. Eventually it amounts to much ado about nothing. The primary problem with the film is that the male protagonist is an outright cheapskate surrounded by at least half a dozen women who deserve much better than this twerp.Visit Site for more

However, debutant director Kapil Sharma’s I, Me Aur Main strives to break the norm as it attempts to tell a contemporary modern day storydealing with issues like live-in relationships, unwed pregnancy and infidelity. Thankfully the dialogues are light and breezy, keeping the conversations seem real. However, the second half loses steam before the climax kicks in. I, Me Aur Main has a tight first half leading to an unconventional climax. Watch it if new-age romance laced with a good looking ensemble is what gets you ticking.Visit Site for more

What’s Good: Too many good looking people assembled together in the same frame. What’s Bad: Everything that is related to the cinematic aspect of the film, a doomed script and cluttered screenplay is painful. Loo break: Washroom will definitely look more appealing to you! Watch or Not?: A wobbly screenplay and a faltering script gone terribly wrong, I, Me aur Main is essentially as narcissistic as the title. Don’t waste your time on this film which gloats too much over nothing substantial.Visit Site for more

I, Me Aur Main is Mama’s boy, Ishaan Sabharwal (John Abraham) gone badass in an extreme way. I, Me Aur Main would have been a far better film, had the screenplay been more generous with expanding on key elements and developing the plot in a more engaging manner, rather than letting the loose ends hang unashamedly. I’d say the screenplay is far more selfish than John’s character in the film, leaving the audience shortchanged with its shaky, faltering bits.Visit Site for more

Love makes the world go round, they say, but in ‘I, Me Aur Main’ it made us go round in circles, turning the two-hour lock-up in the theatre dizzying and exhaustive. The sheer inanity of the plot, where three lives get knotted over matters of the heart and their differences resolved in an impenetrable, hasty manner, is hard to absorb. Surely, debutant director Kapil Sharma could’ve found a simpler love tale to pitch. Kapil tries to do the unimaginable and complicates his own efforts by picking a plot that’s illogical, sluggish, inconsistent and unrealistic. And, to his disadvantage his good-lookers aren’t great performers. If anything, ‘I, Me Aur Main’ is confused about what it actually sets out to do.Visit Site for more
