The explosives go off in the back of the Land Rover – St. Michael Road, Gibraltar.

Puzzled monkeys watching the Land Rover – Queen's Road, Gibraltar. They are Barbary macaques, the only wild monkey population found in Europe. They occupy the area of the Upper Rock area of the Gibraltar Nature Reserve, and they are probably the top tourist attraction in Gibraltar. There's a popular belief that as long as the monkeys stay there, Gibraltar will remain under British rule.

The Land Rover goes off a cliff – Queen's Gate just above Prince Ferdinand's Battery, Gibraltar.

The Land Rover falling into the water – Beachy Head near Eastbourne, East Sussex, United Kingdom. Apparently, it was more convenient to film this in England, though the scene is supposed to take place in Gibraltar.

Bond lands on a yacht in the Gibraltar harbor.

The concert hall in Bratislava where Bond and Saunders (Thomas Wheatley) oversee the defection of KGB general Georgi Koskov (Jeroen Krabbé) – Volksoper, Währinger Straße 78, Vienna, Austria. The interior was filmed at the Sofiensäle on Marxergasse that burned down in the summer of 2001, but was rebuilt and reopened in December of 2013. All the Bratislava scenes were filmed in Vienna since Slovakia was still under Communist rule at the time.

Bond and Saunders head to an apartment across the street to provide sniper cover for Koskov's defection – Währinger Straße 65, Vienna, Austria. It’s actually an innocent-looking chocolate shop.

Saunders waiting at the border checkpoint – Steinspornsbrücke, Vienna, Austria. The bridge connects the mainland with the Donauinsel (Danube Island).

Koskov emerges from the gas pipeline and then boards a Harrier Jump jet – Gasometers, Guglgasse 6, Vienna, Austria. The Gasometers are four former gas storage tanks that fell into disuse after 1984. The brick exterior front walls have been preserved, and the structures have been transformed into a residential and shopping complex.

The Universal Exports Ltd. headquarters serving as the front of MI6 – Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, 57 Trafalgar Square, London WC2N

The MI6 safe house where Koskov is being debriefed – Stonor Park, Stonor, Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. It's one of England's oldest manor houses and a private deer park dating back to the 12th century. The estate is open to visitors.

The KGB detains Kara Milovy (Maryam d'Abo) – Antonigasse at Paulinengasse, Vienna, Austria

The tram depot – Kreutzgasse 72-76, Vienna, Austria.

Kara’s apartment – Antonigasse 92, Vienna, Austria

Bond and Kara encounter a roadblock – Drautalstraße just before the Festungsbergtunnel, Carinthia, Austria.

The frozen lake chase – Weissensee, Carinthia, Austria

Bond and Kara crossing the Austrian border – near Weissensee, Carinthia, Austria. There are no snow-covered mountains near the real Slovak-Austrian border, the terrain there is flat.

Whitaker’s (Joe Don Baker) mansion – Forbes Museum of Tangier, Palais Mendoub, Avenue Hassan II, Tangier, Morocco. The museum was founded by Malcolm Forbes, the publisher of Forbes magazine. The property was sold after Forbes' death in 1990, and it is now owned by the government of Morocco.

The structure seen behind the waltzing couples is the Gloriette. It’s located on the hill to the south of the Schönbrunn Palace.

Bond and Kara’s hotel – Palais Schwarzenberg, Schwarzenbergplatz, Vienna, Austria. It is owned by the aristocratic Schwarzenberg family. Parts of it are a posh hotel, and the building is also used for various events and occasionally for filming. A scene in Before Sunrise was filmed in the palace garden.

Bond and Kara take a ride on the Ferris wheel – Wiener Riesenrad, Riesenradplatz 1, Prater Park, Vienna, Austria.

Bond meeting with Saunders at ‘Prater Café’ – This was filmed on a studio set which was blown up later in the movie.

Bond watching General Pushkin (John Rhys-Davies) – Place du Mechouar aka Place de la Kasbah, Tangier, Morocco. The old city, or "medina," of Tangier is on the left, and the Kasbah is seen on the right.

Bond following General Pushkin to his hotel – Place de France, Tangier, Morocco. Gran Café de Paris (for some reason, the name is misspelled, or maybe it's a mixture of French and Spanish) has a rich literary history and is still a hotspot for local writers.

The hotel where General Pushkin is staying – 2 Place de France, Tangier, Morocco. This is actually the Consulate-General of France in Tangier.
